Oswego State Men’s Basketball prepares for ‘Senior Night’

OSWEGO, N.Y. — The season is winding down for the Oswego men’s basketball team as they prepare for senior night Saturday.

The Lakers will host Brockport at 4 pm on senior night in the Max Ziel Gymnasium at SUNY Oswego. The team has three seniors, Brandan Gartland, Joe Sullivan and Tim Marshall who will be playing their final home game for the Lakers.

Head Coach Jason Leone knows this is going to be an emotional night for his players, but he does not want them to let their emotions get the best of them.

“During the game, we try not to think about the different emotions about the season being over, but we’ve been fortunate over the last few years that our senior night hasn’t been our last home game,” said Leone.

Seniors Joe Sullivan and Tim Marshall are getting ready to play what may be their final home game but they are ready to leave it all on the court.

“I love my team. I love my coaching staff. I love everything about it — the work, day in and day out. I put a lot of time into this, so the playoffs are what we are looking forward to,” said forward Joe Sullivan.

“I love playing with these guys, we’ve got a great group of guys on this team, we’re all there for each other and I’m up there clapping for them and doing as much as I can to help this team win,” added senior center Tim Marshall.

With the SUNYAC tournament in sight, the Lakers look to finish their season on a high note and get a big win for the seniors on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 pm as Oswego hosts Brockport.
