FULTON, New York — Supporters of the Oswego YMCA gathered Thursday, March 10 at the Battle Island State Park Golf Course in Fulton to participate in a paint nite fundraiser.
Those who came to show their support were able to purchase drinks from the bar and follow along with a painting instructor who taught them step-by-step how to paint a picture of a tree.
Linda Hannock, who came to participate in the paint night said the event was fun for a good cause.
“I think the Y is very important especially for the kids in the community ‘cause they offer a lot of opportunities and I love this painting so it’s a great fundraiser ’cause its fun to do and you don’t even have to be good,” said Hannock.
Kerrie Ann Webb, Executive Director of the Oswego YMCA, said the YMCA has spent more than $60,000 in recent years to provide classes, child care and programs for children and adults in the local community.
Webb said fundraisers are essential to helping raise money for these programs. A large portion of funding for the YMCA comes from fundraising events like the paint nite in Fulton.
