OSWEGO N.Y.— Oswego’s westside pier is going to look a little different in the near future. There are going to be a variety of different events taking place in the Maritime District.
On May 15, the H. Lee White Maritime Museum, along with other waterfront businesses and organizations, will host Oswego’s annual Waterfront Open House.
The event is kicking off Oswego’s Safe Boating Week, and will be filled with events. Events include boats and ships being shown off to the public, Oswego lighthouse pictures being on display, as well as the museum showing off its different exhibits.
The boats that are being showcased are the National Historic Landmark World War II boat as well as the Derrick Boat NO. 8.
This event is a great opportunity for those wanting to get more information about the boating season.
“That gives people the opportunity to come and we offer it for free and kind of get excited about it with the season starting. It’s almost like a Rudy’s kind of kickoff event,” said Executive Director of the Maritime Museum Mercedes Niess.
The open house will take place from 1 to 4 pm and is open to those of all ages and it is free to everyone as well. For more information about this event visit the website www.hlwmm.org
