Oswego men’s club hockey prepare for nationals

OSWEGO, N.Y. — The Oswego State men’s club hockey team is preparing to head to nationals in St. Louis, Missouri, on Thursday to face Niagara University’s Purple Eagles.

This is the first time the club team has gone to nationals since 2008.

Trevor Jubran, Oswego’s team captain, said he is happy about all their success.

“Hosting playoffs here was awesome,” Jubran said. “It was the first time we ever held playoffs here. All the fans that came out and watched us were great.”

With it being the first appearance for the team in a few years, the Lakers are looking to compete and bring home a new championship.

Travis Hyde, the club team’s head coach, said he is ready to play and is looking forward to the upcoming games.

“Going to the national tournament is a huge feat for us,” Hyde said. “It’s an accomplishment for us, but it’s an opportunity to showcase what Oswego State is about and showcase what the sports programs can be out of Oswego, and that’s what we’re gonna do.”

To support the expenses of travel and hotels, the men’s club team is accepting donations in any amount to support them.
