OSWEGO, NEW YORK— Early this year an Oswego landmark was closed down due to an unexpected electrical fire. Wade’s Diner located on Ninth and Bridge Street began it’s demolition early last week.

Partnering up with owner of Wade’s Diner, construction worker Lance Pezzlo explained the process of the project and an estimation of when the diner could possibly re-open.

“It really depends on weather, we’re hoping to have it back up in about four to five months. It’s going to be early 2016. Exactly when, just put it this way, we’re hoping earlier than later.”  Pezzlo said.

He looks forward to have the place back up and running for the community.

“It’s a staple to this community.” Pezzlo said. “ People are excited and when they see the new place going up, people will start talking, they’ll be happy to have their ham and cheese omelets again.”

Owner of Wade’s Diner Anthony Zappala invested in the diner back in 1983. He vowed and was certain he wouldn’t give up on his diner and his employees.

“ I was devastated, because it burned of course. It’s been in my family for 33 years. So it was kind of devastating. When it burned I knew i was going to rebuild.” Zappala said.

For the past thirty-three years the diner has served over two hundred customers on a daily basis. He’s thankful without his hardworking and dedicated staff, the success of the diner would not be possible.

“It’s them it’s not me, I just show up.” Zappala said.

Important to his staff and community, Zappala has invested a great amount of hard work and time to rebuild this venture. He’s excited and looks forwards a fresh new restart to the city of Oswego.
