SUNY Oswego Pride Alliance hosts annual Drag Ball

OSWEGO, N.Y. — SUNY Oswego’s Pride Alliance hosted its annual Drag Ball in the Marano Campus Center Food Court. People packed the house from all over Upstate New York to support their peers and be entertained by professional drag kings and queens.

The purpose was to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS through games and raffles. The event raised $100 for Oswego County Opportunities, Pride Alliance representative, Bailey Perry said.

“The money we raised from the raffles is going to Oswego County Opportunities because they have a fantastic service,” Perry said. “They do where they have this bus that goes around Oswego County and it raises awareness for AIDS, HIV and a bunch of other sexually transmitted diseases.”

This year’s Drag Ball was a night to remember, Perry said.  The evening featured performances of professional and amateur drag kings and queens. The Pride Alliance worked hard to create a safe and fun event for students to go to and enjoy, Perry said.
