Oswego’s beloved Rudy’s Lakeside Drive-In is opening for the 2022 season

OSWEGO, N.Y. — Rudy’s Lakeside Drive-In, one of Oswego’s most popular spring and summertime destinations, has begun welcoming back customers for the 2022 season.

After two years of only offering curbside and drive-thru pickup options, Rudy’s is allowing people to dine inside the restaurant for the first time since 2019. For many Oswego residents and students, this is their first opportunity to experience Rudy’s indoor dining.

“I’m pumped,” said Jared Salomon, a SUNY Oswego student. “I’ve come here a handful of times throughout my college career but this is the first time I’ve been able to come inside and dine inside.”

After Covid regulations prevented Rudy’s from celebrating its 75th anniversary with returning customers last year, the restaurant is calling this season its “75-plus-one” anniversary.

With Rudy’s continuing its celebratory opening week, the restaurant is imploring its customers, new and old, to stop by and grab a bite through its new ordering options. People can order in-person, online or call in—whatever they feel most comfortable with.

Though with Rudy’s Lakeside Drive-In heading into its first weekend being open, customers should anticipate the chance of long lines forming as people await coveted meals.
