Women’s Lax Historic Season
Oswego, NY- The Oswego State Women’s Lacrosse team has found resurgence this year after a 6-11 season last year.
Part of the reason for the success for the Lakers this season is due to multiple players stepping up when they need it the most.
Oswego State Women’s Lax has found success this season due to multiple players stepping up in an important role. One of these players is junior Isabella Lembo who has had a career year this year with over 45 goals on the season. Her teammate Sela Wiley has been impressed with what she brings to the team.
“Bella’s a huge threat on the field. She’s quick. She’s kind of quiet with the way she scores”, Wiley said. She puts the ball away in huge moments when we need it”.
Lembo isn’t the only player who has been a star for this team. Senior Sela Wiley has had a huge impact on this team as she approached the 100 career goal milestone this season. Lembo says Wiley is a good role model for the rest of the team.
“Sela’s leadership is very good towards the team”, Lembo said. She will always hype you up and will always help you with your mistakes. She really sees it all on the field”
The Lakers made the postseason last year but fell to Oneonta in round one. This season they’ve won twelve games for the first time since 2016. Women’s lacrosse head coach Britt Howard has been impressed with what her team has been able to achieve this season.
“I think the biggest thing is you know the development and leadership we have on the team”, Howard said. We were super young last year. We really wanted to come into this year and use everything we had last year”
The women’s lacrosse team will play the Oneonta Red Dragons in round one of the SUNYAC Playoff Tournament as they hope to achieve win number thirteen which would be the most wins in their program’s history.
