Oswego receives grants to revamp Canal Corridor

Governor Cuomo announced that Oswego County received a state Brownfield Opportunity Area (BOA) grant that will be used to improve Oswego’s Canal Corridor, which includes the Oswego River, the Oswego Canal and Lake Ontario.

The redevelopment aims to create a mix of opportunities including niche retail spaces, hotels, housing, and waterfront amusements.

Brownfield” is a term used to identify a real property that’s expansion, redevelopment, or reuse may be complicated by the presence or possible presence of a hazardous substance.
