The town of Minetto is participating in the 12th annual Canal Clean Sweep which includes flower plantings,  trail repairs, and litter removal along the Oswego River. There will be a few opportunities to take part in the Sweep, with events on Saturday, April 22 and Sunday, April 23 in addition to May 7.

Students on the SUNY Oswego campus are trying to reduce their waste production by participating in “Tap In,” an initiative to reduce plastic water bottle waste by encouraging students to carry a thermos or stainless steel water bottle around campus.

There is still plenty of work to be done, though. Campus Outreach Intern Peterly Jean Baptist says the student body is responsible for producing a massive amount of waste.

Saturday’s event begins at 9 a.m. by the Minetto Town Hall on Route 48. Sunday’s event starts at 9:30 a.m. near the entrance to Great Bear Recreation area and the May 7th event begins at 10 a.m near Battle Island.
