Oswego, N.Y. –Two dogs at Paws Across Oswego County are ready for adoption and looking for new loving homes.

Katie is an 8-year-old Dachshund-mix and Wilbur is a 2-year-old Labrador-mix. Katie enjoys playing with tennis balls and loves treats. Katie is up to date with her vaccines, spayed, micro-chipped, and is currently on heartworm preventative. It is important for Katie to go on some light walks to maintain a healthy weight.

Wilbur came to the shelter as a stray. He was born with a congenital birth defect called ectrodactyly, which is very rare to see in dogs. Wilbur loves to run, play and snuggle just like any other furry friend.

“They are awesome dogs, whenever I’m working my assistant Katie is there with me,” Shelter Director Heather Axtell said.

The shelter has struggled since the beginning of the pandemic. Axtell said the shelter relies on donations and help from volunteers. In the previous year, the shelter has been forced  to cancel all of its fundraising events. The shelter will be holding its 9th annual Ridin for the Paws Benefit on August 15 at the Fulton Elks Lodge.

The shelter is looking for any volunteers available to help. For more information on adopting Katie and Wilbur call (315) 343-0001. To donate and volunteer go to Paw Across Oswego County‘s website for more information.
