Movie time at the Movie Theater

Theater experience is quite important when it comes to seeing a film. There are many universal factors of the experience that everyone shares. For example, passing by the window cards and browsing at the titles. Another example is the smell of the buttered popcorn entering your nose as soon as you step foot in the theater. Concession stands are also essential in the theater experience. Every theater sells the majority of the same snacks such as popcorn, pretzels, candy, and much more. The movie theater is a community experience in the way of seeing the same movie simultaneously as strangers in the theater with you. Another way it could be considered as a community experience is with the anticipation of chatting about it with other people. Most of the previews before the movie are the same throughout theaters. These are some of the many universal factors that everyone shares when they attend the movie theater. The Oswego 7 Cinema is a perfect example of this due to its nostalgic features.

The Oswego 7 Cinema

The Oswego 7 Cinema is a form of history as many movie theaters begin renovating. The theater was built in the 1940s, allowing it to embody a nostalgic feeling. The outside of the theater is very colorful with a  marquee on the top of the building saying “Oswego”. There are a few window cards on the outside with more in the theater. The theater’s interior is very pleasing, especially the staircase with the window cards on the wall. The theater in Oswego has old arcade games which gives a nostalgic feeling since most theaters now don’t have that due to Covid.

There are many reasons why I enjoy going to the Oswego 7 Cinema. One reason is the option to watch certain movies in 3D. This is so much fun because it’s very rare for any theater or any DVD to release a 3D version. The second reason is to be in a distraction-free environment to fully pay attention to the movie. Going to the movie theater stops the ability to pause the movie or turn it off, being stuck watching it all. The theater also allows you to see the films on a much bigger screen than you would see at home.  The third reason I enjoy going to the theater is to see the previews of upcoming movies. This allows me to think about when I will go to the movies the next time. Walking into the Oswego 7 Cinema and going up the stairs passing the games gives a nostalgic experience. This reminds me of my hometown movie theater which makes the theater experience more memorable.

Although it is more convenient to watch movies on streaming services, a real life experience matters. Going to the movies should be an experience to remember not one to dread. I love movie theaters because they allow you to get out of the house and experience something to share with others. I am very excited to see many upcoming films in the Oswego 7 Cinema.
